This diagram represents a range of thought on what "Strange Beauty" means to me. I start a design process in this way as it is easier for the reader to understand my thoughts towards a chosen topic.
The following links all show pictures I have collected through my research of "Strange Beauty"

The reason for me added David Bowie into my research is down to the publics perception of strange beauty back in the 70's women would see Bowie as a beautiful man but this beauty was strange.

Models in the high fashion industry come with a stereotype for being thin and the thinner the model the better they make clothing looks. This is down to personal opinion not everybody views models in this way but the url above shows had extremely thin model can only be seen as strangely beautiful.

I am extremely drawn to freckles, from a make-up artist point of view I feel that applying make-up to heavily freckled skin a luxury, this makes somebody uniques and beautiful. This beauty is not flawless intact far from it making the perception "strange beauty".

Through research and gaining knowledge about the perception of strange beauty, I have gravitated more towards the freckle pictures that you will see through a number of these links above. People with many freckles on their body or face in particular may not think of themselves as beautiful. This is due to the beauty industry always aiming for that airbrushed flawless look clogging up our TV screens, Magazines and throughout social media.
Rimmel London have recently been one of the first big make-up brands to advertise their products on Georgia May Jagger. Georgia is known in the fashion industry for her teeth. Her teeth are not perfectly straight like most of us try to achieve in life been inspired to do so by dentists, and the fashion industry itself. This is by far not the underlining definition of "Strange Beauty" but I felt that I needed to add this to my blog to show how Rimmel London have chosen a women to advertise their products because of who she is, not for the fact she is flawless and perfect in every single way, because most of that image is not realistic.

From the pictures of the freckles I see that taking this to the extreme on the face could look really professional a little like some of these images below.
I like the fact these images are showing make-up on only parts of the face. This is something i am going to take into consideration, as i am still hoping to apply make-up and a hair style to my character i feel that he prosthetic should only be existing on the forehead coming down onto the cheekbones passing over the temples.
Alex Box is a very inspirational creative make-up artist, her latest work see her using photo manipulation.
I love this look, the random bubbles of different shapes and sizes make for a more interesting make-up look all his will be taken into consideration when designing my piece.
These pictures then led me to an inspiration I did not see coming, 'Rainbow drops' these were right under my nose.
The colours of the sweets are exactly what am looking for.
The textures of the rainbow drops are like coral texture and this is something I would definitely consider using along side foam latex to really make my prosthetic pop!
Expanding on the rainbow drop inspiration I thought that looking further into coral could help me in designing my prosthetic i know i want to use the freckle inspiration but i want to take this freckly image to a high fashion level. See pictures below for coral inspiration.
Coral is such a beautiful living plant it is 'strangely beautiful' therefore matches my my brief wonderfully. From this i could marry the freckles and coral together, making for wonderful prosthetic piece of the face finished with a hair and make-up look. The colours will need to be eye catching and unique.
Strange Beauty?? I have been thinking about my prosthetic piece and wondering could I make my model more interesting? Therefore I have recruited a model that is of chinese heritage. I feel that Monica will suit my prosthetic perfectly and will be able to carry it off.
my model:
Going down a different root of inspiration now, when looking for colour ideas I came across reefs. the pictures below show you why. The beautiful colours and the different textures is something I wish to recreated on my foam latex piece.

Here I have added a colour wheel for reference when applying colour at a later stage in the process.

When looking at the coral I realised that the idea of the bubble effect which was an inspiration from freckles actually looks a little like coral. Coral has all different shapes, sizes, textures and that is something I wish to create on my prosthetic piece. The link below shows coral in a contrast colour form. (orange and pink.)

This contrast of colours interested me, at the moment one of this seasons hottest fashion trends in contrasting colours. See the images below I have collated.
These pictures above were taken from the blog link below please copy and take a look at other colour combos the blog has to offer.

This colour theory got me thing about my costume design, I could have my character in a colour contrasting outfit to add the high fashion twist.
As my character is a under water magical creature with a high fashion strange beauty edge I feel that it is only right my model wear a bikini. Here in the picture above you can see i decided to go with the contrast colour combo for the design I love it and this will give a brilliant overall look to my final piece.
What about the make-up? I need to produce a make-up design that is bold colourful yet its back nicely in order to let all the audience attention be on my prosthetic piece?
Here are some inspiration pictures I have collated.

Do I stay minimulistic? or go futuristic?
After thinking things through I decided that as my costume was pink it would be a good idea to stick with this on the eye so nothing looked out of place. The lips were a question mark…… i wanted to go orange but it seemed to bold for my character, I came across a violet lipstick i had in my kit and straight way knew i like this with the oink, there was going to be hints of purple in my prosthetic so this worked fantastically together.
Below is the face chart created for my final assessment.
